Chelsea plans January exit for “quality” player as 10 clubs show interest
Chelsea is preparing to part ways with midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the January transfer window, with up to 10 Premier League clubs expressing interest in the former Leicester City standout.
Dewsbury-Hall has struggled to break into Chelsea’s first team since his £30 million summer move from Leicester. Manager Enzo Maresca, who coached Dewsbury-Hall at Leicester last season, has primarily used him as a fringe player in cup competitions.
According to reports, Chelsea is now actively looking to move Dewsbury-Hall on in January. At least 10 British clubs are monitoring the situation closely, including Leicester City, Fulham, Tottenham, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Brighton, Brentford, Manchester United and Arsenal.
The high level of interest suggests many teams view this as an opportunity to strengthen their midfield options. For Dewsbury-Hall, it provides potential escape routes after a difficult start to his Chelsea career.
Journalist Graeme Bailey commented: “It was a strange deal from the start. I don’t expect him to still be at Chelsea next season. The club is well-stocked in midfield and Dewsbury-Hall hasn’t been able to establish himself.”
While Chelsea had high hopes when signing the “quality” Dewsbury-Hall, it appears his time at Stamford Bridge may be cut short after just half a season. With so many suitors lining up, the midfielder looks likely to be on the move again in January as Chelsea reshapes its squad.
