Cassano: “Inzaghi has 20 great players, playing well is the bare minimum. He has thrown away two league titles”

Former Inter Milan player Antonio Cassano has strongly criticized current Inter coach Simone Inzaghi. Speaking on the show “Viva el Futbol”, Cassano argued that Inzaghi has only managed to improve two players despite having an excellent squad at his disposal.

“Winning the league last year doesn’t impress me. He should be winning it – in fact, he should have won three by now and be on track for a fourth this year,” Cassano stated. “I’m not amazed when they play well because they have 20 top players. Inter is obligated to win the league. I can’t praise a coach who has won one title and wasted two others. I don’t see exceptional work, just the same old approach.”

Cassano believes Inzaghi has only improved two players: “The only two I’ve seen improve under him are Thuram, who has exceeded expectations, and Dimarco.”

Regarding Inter’s Champions League performance, Cassano was equally critical: “Why should I praise a coach who lost badly to a weaker team (Bayer Leverkusen), didn’t play well against Leipzig, and was outclassed by Arsenal?”

He also commented on defender De Vrij: “He’s now one of their best players, but I don’t think Inzaghi deserves credit for that. When Acerbi was fit, he never gave De Vrij a chance.”

Cassano’s harsh critique extends beyond Inzaghi, as he has also been critical of Inter midfielder Barella in the past.
