Cardinale Shares Insights on AC Milan’s Management and Future Direction
In a recent Harvard Business School case study on AC Milan, owner Gerry Cardinale provided valuable insights into the club’s management structure and future plans. Cardinale emphasized the importance of financial responsibility and integrating on-field and off-field performance.
Regarding CEO Giorgio Furlani, Cardinale stated, “Giorgio thinks like we do at RedBird. He’s unique in European football: young, open-minded, and with an investor’s background. While he lacks experience managing a large team, we’ve created a ‘CEO office’ that operates under my direction, bringing together various disciplines necessary to evolve European football ownership.”
Cardinale also addressed Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s appointment, saying, “This isn’t about celebrity appeal. I’m seeking world-class individuals who can improve us. With Zlatan, I wanted to signal that we’ll do things differently because there’s a legitimate need for innovation in managing these resources better. I’ve hired him as an operating partner for RedBird and a senior advisor for Milan ownership.”
This approach demonstrates AC Milan’s commitment to blending financial acumen with football expertise, aiming to innovate and excel both on and off the pitch.
