Bologna’s Coach Italiano Celebrates Dallinga’s Breakthrough Goal in 2-0 Victory
Bologna’s head coach Vincenzo Italiano expressed his satisfaction after the team’s 2-0 away victory against Torino, highlighting the importance of Thijs Dallinga finally scoring his first goal for the club. The win extends Bologna’s impressive run, with six victories in their last eight Serie A matches.
Italiano emphasized the significance of ending the year on a positive note, stating, “This victory allows us to enjoy a peaceful holiday break, which was our aim today. We wanted to maintain our streak of good results, and the players have more than earned some rest now.”
The match saw an early missed opportunity when Santiago Castro’s penalty was saved by Torino’s goalkeeper. However, substitute Dallinga made an immediate impact, scoring just 42 seconds after entering the field. Tommaso Pobega later secured the win with a second goal.
Reflecting on Dallinga’s performance, Italiano said, “We’ve been waiting a long time for this moment. Dallinga has come close many times, especially in Champions League matches. It’s crucial now to have a more confident striker.”
Despite losing key players and their previous coach in the off-season, Bologna continues to perform well. Italiano attributes this to the team’s growing maturity and ambition. “The President dreams of keeping Bologna in European competition and at a high level, so we approach every game with ambition,” he explained.
Looking ahead, Italiano acknowledged room for improvement: “No team can achieve perfection; there’s always something to adjust and enhance. We’re becoming more mature as time progresses. Winning here wasn’t easy, so these are three crucial points.”
The victory puts Bologna in a strong position, level on points with their performance at this stage last season under former coach Thiago Motta, with a game in hand against Milan.
