Barcelona’s Bid to Register Olmo for La Liga Rejected
Barcelona’s efforts to register midfielder Dani Olmo for the second half of the Spanish league season have hit a roadblock. According to Mundo Deportivo, a commercial court has rejected the club’s application.
The Catalan giants have filed an appeal with the court of first instance, with a new hearing scheduled for December 30. However, time is of the essence as the registration deadline is set for December 31.
Barcelona argues that the current player registration rules are invalid, claiming they are regulated by an organization they deem incompetent – specifically, the delegated commission of La Liga.
It was previously reported that Barcelona had included a free departure clause in Olmo’s contract. The 26-year-old midfielder’s agreement with the club extends until the summer of 2030.
In the first half of the season, the Spanish player has already made a significant impact, scoring 6 goals and providing 1 assist in 15 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions.
