Barcelona Rejects Flick’s Request for Winter Reinforcements
According to recent reports, FC Barcelona has declined Hansi Flick’s request for reinforcements during the upcoming winter transfer window. The club’s dire financial situation makes it impossible to strengthen the squad, as their primary focus is on registering Dani Olmo.
Flick reportedly sought to bolster the midfield and full-back positions. Specifically, he had expressed interest in bringing in either Kanté or Goretzka for the central midfield role, as well as a left-back. However, the club’s management has been firm in their response, citing the team’s poor economic condition as the reason for denying these reinforcements.
Barcelona’s financial difficulties necessitate careful prioritization of their actions. The club’s main objectives are to secure the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. It’s worth noting that Olmo currently has a temporary registration permit due to Christensen’s injury in August, but this arrangement expires in the winter transfer window. At that point, Barcelona will need to re-register Olmo, which is currently unfeasible. The same applies to Pau Victor. If the club fails to register these players, Olmo may have to leave Barcelona.
Despite the significant deal recently signed with Nike, Barcelona’s economic woes persist. The salary cap remains a delicate issue, and if left unresolved, it could prevent the registration of both Olmo and Victor. Reports suggest that even though the Nike agreement has been officially announced, La Liga has not yet received confirmation of this financial move.
Barcelona still requires additional income to complete these registrations. Sources indicate that the club is unsure where these funds will come from, but they are necessary if Olmo is to remain part of the squad. Should the required income materialize, it would be allocated entirely to player registrations rather than new signings. Consequently, Barcelona will likely have to navigate the remainder of the season with their current squad.
