Barcelona President Laporta Faces Potential Vote of No Confidence
An opposition group within Barcelona, led by former presidential candidate Jordi Farré, is planning to initiate a vote of no confidence against current president Joan Laporta. This move aims to force Laporta’s resignation from his position as the head of the Catalan club.
According to reports, Farré’s group is preparing to launch the procedure, similar to the one he initiated against former president Josep Bartomeu in 2020. The process will begin with a formal presentation at the Barcelona office, followed by a letter sent to the club’s board members for voting.
The board will have five working days to provide ballots to the proposal initiators. For the procedure to move forward, it will require more than 16,000 votes to prompt the board to begin the voting process. To successfully pass the vote of no confidence, it must receive support from two-thirds of respondents and at least 10 percent of eligible voting members.
This development highlights the ongoing internal tensions within the Barcelona organization and could potentially lead to significant changes in the club’s leadership structure.
