Barcelona FC Hires Band to Replace Supporters’ Section
The conflict between Barcelona FC and its most passionate supporters continues to escalate. The club has banned access to the stadium’s animation section for its most active fans, and in a controversial move during the match against Leganés, hired a small band to replace the missing supporters.
This decision has sparked outrage among fans and on social media. The band, consisting of 10 musicians, was brought in to play and create atmosphere from the stands. However, this gesture was met with criticism from various sections of the stadium, where chants of “Barça yes, Laporta no” could be heard.
The club indefinitely closed the ‘Animation Space’ at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium in November due to rule violations by several fan groups. These violations included displaying Nazi flags and other inappropriate behavior, resulting in a €21,000 fine for the club. Barcelona attempted to resolve the situation by asking the banned supporters to pay the fine, but they refused.
With no agreement in sight between the two parties, a quick resolution seems unlikely. The banned supporters have been protesting outside the stadium and expressing their dissatisfaction on social media. They have resorted to attending Barcelona’s away matches, including the recent Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund, where they set off flares, potentially leading to another fine for the club.
As the controversy continues to unfold, it’s clear that the relationship between Barcelona FC and its most devoted fans has reached a critical point, with no easy solution in sight.
