Aston Villa Initiates Contract Discussions with 21-Year-Old Loan Star Filip Marschall
According to recent reports, Aston Villa has opened negotiations with young goalkeeper Filip Marschall regarding a contract extension. The 21-year-old has been with Villa since coming through their youth academy.
Marschall has gained valuable experience through loan spells, including two stints at non-league Gateshead and time with MK Dons last season. He is currently on a season-long loan at League Two side Crewe Alexandra, where he has impressed by keeping 8 clean sheets across all competitions so far.
Despite being under contract until 2027 and away from Villa Park, the club is keen to secure Marschall’s long-term future. This move demonstrates Villa’s faith in the young keeper’s potential.
Marschall made his first-team debut for Villa last season in a UEFA Conference League match against Zrinjski Mostar. After that game, manager Unai Emery emphasized the importance of giving young players like Marschall opportunities to gain confidence and experience.
While Emiliano Martínez remains Villa’s first-choice goalkeeper for now, the club clearly views Marschall as a promising talent for the future. By initiating contract talks, Villa aims to solidify their relationship with the young shot-stopper as he continues his development.
