AS Monaco Determined to Keep Rising Star Maghnes Akliouche Despite AC Milan’s Interest
Despite growing interest from major European clubs, AS Monaco is resolute in its decision to retain 22-year-old talent Maghnes Akliouche. The young playmaker, who chose to stay with Monaco last summer despite reported interest from Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, has now caught the eye of AC Milan.
Monaco’s CEO Thiago Scuro had previously emphasized the club’s commitment to keeping Akliouche, stating, “Our priority is for him to stay. We are in positive discussions with him and his agent regarding a contract extension.” This commitment was reinforced when Akliouche extended his contract with Monaco until 2028 in July.
Recent reports from Italian media suggest AC Milan is targeting a January move for the French youth international. However, Monaco remains firm in its stance that Akliouche is not for sale during the winter transfer window, as confirmed by reliable sources.
While a January departure seems unlikely, the possibility of a summer transfer cannot be ruled out. Monaco’s business model often involves selling their academy graduates after they have proven their worth. Akliouche, having built upon his breakthrough season with impressive performances in the current campaign, may attract renewed interest from top clubs come the end of the season.
For now, AS Monaco fans can rest assured that their promising young star will continue to shine for the Principality club, at least until the summer transfer window opens.
