Arteta Should Replace Underperforming Arsenal Youngster with Team’s “Sensational” Game-Changer

Arteta Should Replace Underperforming Arsenal Youngster with Team’s “Sensational” Game-Changer

Arsenal has faced numerous challenges this season, including injuries and suspensions. The team has also struggled to create chances from open play. In their recent match against Crystal Palace, Arsenal found themselves trailing 1-0 at halftime after a mistake by Jakub Kiwior.

However, manager Mikel Arteta made several substitutions at halftime that transformed the game. To ensure a strong start in the upcoming away match against Palace, Arteta should consider dropping one of Wednesday’s starters.

While young talent Ethan Nwaneri has shown promise, his performance against Palace was ineffective. In 46 minutes of play, he had 31 touches but completed only 16 passes and failed all of his dribble attempts. This performance earned him a 6/10 rating from the Standard’s Simon Collings.

Removing Nwaneri from the starting lineup is not a judgment on his talent, but rather a responsible decision for his development. An intense away match at Selhurst Park may not be the ideal environment for the 17-year-old at this stage.

The obvious choice to replace Nwaneri is team captain Martin Odegaard. Despite a subpar performance against Everton last weekend, Odegaard was instrumental in changing the game against Palace. In just one half, he provided two assists, made three key passes, completed two dribbles, and created two big chances.

Odegaard’s overall record of 36 goals and 30 assists in 166 games for Arsenal, combined with his experience and leadership qualities, make him the ideal choice for a crucial away match under the lights at Selhurst Park.

While Nwaneri remains a promising talent for Arsenal’s future, the current circumstances call for Odegaard’s return to the starting lineup to provide the creativity and leadership needed for a positive result against Crystal Palace.
