Arsenal targeting Barcelona’s Dani Olmo to strengthen midfield
Arsenal are showing interest in Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo as they look to reinforce their squad for a Premier League title push. The Spanish playmaker could potentially leave Barcelona on a free transfer due to registration issues, despite only joining the club last summer.
According to reports, Arsenal are monitoring Olmo’s situation closely, along with Manchester United and Manchester City. The 25-year-old has impressed for Barcelona this season when fit, scoring 5 goals in 15 appearances across all competitions.
Olmo was also a standout performer for Spain at Euro 2024, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists as his country lifted the trophy. His creative abilities have drawn comparisons to former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, who also joined the Gunners from Barcelona’s academy as a youngster.
Interestingly, statistics show Olmo has a similar creative output to Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, who Arsenal have also been linked with recently. Both players excel at key passes, progressive passing, and creating chances for teammates.
While Cunha is having a strong season, signing an accomplished playmaker like Olmo on a free transfer could be an ideal move for Arsenal as they aim to keep pace with Liverpool at the top of the Premier League. His technical skills and vision would add another dimension to the Gunners’ attack.
