Arsenal Signals Interest in £67M Barcelona Forward for January Transfer
Arsenal is reportedly eyeing a January move for Barcelona star Raphinha as manager Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad and boost the team’s Premier League title chances.
The Gunners have struggled to convert chances recently, going three league games without scoring from open play. While their build-up play has been strong, finishing has been an issue against teams employing low defensive blocks.
Arteta acknowledged the frustration, saying: “The team is producing chances and dominating games, but we need to put the ball in the net.”
With the January transfer window approaching, reports suggest Arsenal is considering new attacking options. Spanish media claim the club has expressed “formal” interest in signing Raphinha from Barcelona.
The Brazilian forward has been in exceptional form this season, scoring 17 goals with 10 assists in 24 appearances across all competitions. However, prising him away mid-season may prove difficult given his importance to Barcelona.
Raphinha’s contract runs until 2027 and Barcelona are believed to want at least £67 million for the player, who currently earns £198,000 per week. While expensive, Arsenal view him as a potential solution to their scoring woes as they pursue the Premier League title.
