Arsenal Sets Sights on Atalanta Goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi
Arsenal is reportedly interested in acquiring Atalanta’s goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi as they search for a new backup to replace Norberto Neto, whose contract concludes next summer.
The 24-year-old Carnesecchi has become Atalanta’s first-choice goalkeeper this season after competing with Juan Musso last year. His impressive performances have caught the attention of the Gunners.
Mikel Arteta’s team is looking to bring in a reliable option when Neto departs the Emirates Stadium. They believe Carnesecchi could compete with David Raya for the starting position.
However, Arsenal may face resistance from Atalanta, who are likely reluctant to sell one of their key players. The London club hopes that their relationship with Carnesecchi’s agent, Alessandro Lucci, who also represents Riccardo Calafiori, may facilitate transfer negotiations.
Lucci previously orchestrated Calafiori’s move from Bologna to Arsenal last summer and could play a crucial role in helping the Gunners reach an agreement with Atalanta.
Despite his relatively limited experience in Serie A, Carnesecchi is considered one of the most promising goalkeepers in the league. He has recorded five clean sheets this season and nine in the previous campaign.
