Arsenal eyeing £20m Leeds United goalkeeper for January transfer
Arsenal are reportedly looking to bolster their squad in the January transfer window, with Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier emerging as a potential target.
The Gunners have been linked with several attackers like Dusan Vlahovic and Mohammed Kudus, but could also look to bring in a new backup goalkeeper. Their current number two, Neto, is only on a season-long loan from Bournemouth.
According to journalist Steve Kay, Arsenal may turn their attention to Leeds’ Meslier as a long-term solution. The 24-year-old Frenchman has been a key player for Leeds this season, starting every Championship match so far.
Kay reports that Meslier could join Arsenal in January for around £20 million. With his contract expiring in 2026, the Gunners may have leverage to negotiate a lower fee.
Meslier is still young for a goalkeeper and could provide strong competition for current Arsenal number one David Raya. His potential arrival would give manager Mikel Arteta another quality option between the posts as Arsenal push for the Premier League title.
While attacking reinforcements remain a priority, bringing in Meslier could be a shrewd move to shore up Arsenal’s goalkeeping depth for the future. The coming weeks will reveal if the Gunners decide to pursue the Leeds star or explore other options in the January window.
