Araujo’s Barcelona Start Diminishes Juventus Transfer Prospects

Ronald Araujo’s potential transfer to Juventus appears increasingly unlikely as Barcelona has decided to start the center-back in their Copa del Rey match against Betis Sevilla. This move further reinforces the club’s desire to retain the player.

The Uruguayan defender has been the subject of recent speculation, with Juventus reportedly targeting him as a replacement for the injured Gleison Bremer. However, Barcelona’s latest actions suggest they are not willing to part with Araujo.

Coach Hansi Flick’s decision to include Araujo in the starting lineup for the Copa del Rey fixture sends a clear message about the player’s importance to the team. This comes after Araujo’s return from injury earlier this month, when he played his first full 90 minutes of the season against UD Barbastro in another cup match.

The defender also featured prominently in Barcelona’s impressive 5-2 victory over Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercup, further cementing his place in the squad. These recent appearances, coupled with reports that Barcelona has convinced Araujo to stay, have significantly reduced Juventus’ chances of securing his services.

As a result of this development, Juventus is reportedly shifting their focus to alternative defensive targets. The Italian club is said to be considering resuming negotiations with AC Milan for Fikayo Tomori as they look to strengthen their backline.
