Amad Shines as Dalot Falters in United’s Thrilling Derby Win

Amad Shines as Dalot Falters in United’s Thrilling Derby Win

Manchester United pulled off a stunning 3-2 comeback victory against local rivals Manchester City in a pulsating Premier League encounter. While the Red Devils put in a resilient defensive display overall, it was supersub Amad Diallo who stole the headlines with a match-winning cameo off the bench.

City took the lead through Josko Gvardiol’s header, but Bruno Fernandes equalized from the penalty spot after earlier missing a golden opportunity. Amad then entered the fray and made an instant impact, winning the penalty and scoring a spectacular late winner to send the away support into raptures.

The young Ivorian attacker showed excellent composure to round Ederson and finish from a tight angle after latching onto Lisandro Martinez’s long ball forward. His game-changing performance overshadowed some of the struggles endured by other United players on the day.

Full-back Diogo Dalot in particular had a difficult outing operating as a left wing-back. The Portuguese defender failed to win any of his seven attempted duels and lost possession 10 times during the match. He also struggled to provide an attacking outlet, failing to complete either of his two attempted crosses.

Dalot’s positioning for City’s opener was also questionable, as he was outjumped by goalscorer Gvardiol. His overall 4/10 rating from the Manchester Evening News highlighted a performance lacking conviction both defensively and going forward.

While Dalot will be eager to improve, United fans will be jubilant after securing a famous derby victory thanks to Amad’s heroics. The result keeps their top four hopes alive and provides a huge morale boost heading into the final stretch of the season.
