Alvaro Morata’s Recurring Injuries Pose Challenge for AC Milan

AC Milan’s forward Alvaro Morata is once again sidelined due to health issues. The Spanish striker, who was acquired from Atletico Madrid last summer to be a key player both on the field and in the locker room, has had a challenging first half of the season.

Morata’s performance has been underwhelming, with only 5 goals across all competitions, including 4 in Serie A. More concerningly, his physical reliability has been questionable. Since joining the club in August, the former Juventus player has been forced to stop training on four separate occasions – more than any other Milan player during this period.

His injury woes began shortly after his debut goal against Torino, with a muscle problem sidelining him until after the first international break. In early November, an aerial collision with teammate Pavlovic during training caused him to miss the away game against Cagliari. Most recently, he’s faced two setbacks in quick succession.

Currently suffering from tonsillitis, Morata will miss the upcoming match against Verona. This comes at a crucial time for the team and manager Paulo Fonseca, who is under pressure to secure a positive result. However, there is hope that Morata will be available for selection for the game against Roma on December 29th.

These recurring fitness issues are particularly problematic given Morata’s importance to the team and the expectations placed upon him as a leader. As Milan navigates a challenging season, the striker’s ability to stay fit and contribute consistently will be crucial to the team’s success.
