Agent Reveals Roma’s Attempt to Force Bove Transfer to Nottingham Forest
Edoardo Bove’s representative has disclosed that Roma’s former CEO attempted to compel the midfielder to accept a transfer to Nottingham Forest for a mere €8 million before his eventual move to Fiorentina.
The agent, Diego Tavano, shared insights into the challenging summer transfer window in an interview. He mentioned that while Daniele De Rossi had indicated Bove could remain at Roma, the competition for playing time was intense. Tavano believed it was crucial for Bove to secure regular game time for his development.
According to Tavano, the situation escalated on August 30 when the former CEO, Lina Souloukou, pressured Bove to accept a transfer to Nottingham Forest for €8 million. There was also consideration of a loan to Olympiacos. However, Tavano deemed this valuation significantly below Bove’s true worth.
The agent resisted, assuring the club he would find a solution beneficial to all parties and potentially secure a higher transfer fee. For Bove and his team, Fiorentina emerged as the ideal destination. Tavano noted that De Rossi had consistently advised the club to include a buy-back option in any transfer deal for Bove.
Ultimately, the 22-year-old joined Fiorentina on loan for €1.5 million, with an option to buy set at €10.5 million. This option would become mandatory if Bove appeared in 60% of Fiorentina’s matches this season.
Tavano highlighted the emotional aspect of Bove’s departure from Roma, describing how they both shed tears on the journey to the train station. Despite this, they recognized it was the right decision, with Bove always viewing Florence as a city brimming with passion.
The agent also emphasized the unwavering support Bove continued to receive from Roma fans even after his transfer, underscoring the player’s initial desire to become a club icon at Roma.
