AC Milan President Scaroni Discusses Inter Collaboration and Serie A Leadership
In a recent interview, AC Milan President Paolo Scaroni shared his thoughts on various topics concerning Italian football. Scaroni addressed potential changes in Serie A leadership, the status of Roma’s manager Paulo Fonseca, and clarified comments made by Milan owner Gerry Cardinale about Inter Milan.
Regarding the potential change in Serie A leadership, Scaroni stated, “I believe that beyond the legal disputes over Simonelli’s eligibility, the desire for change expressed by 14 out of 20 clubs will ultimately prevail.” This comment comes amid controversy surrounding the new Serie A president’s ties to other clubs.
When asked about Roma manager Paulo Fonseca’s job security, Scaroni simply replied, “No, we all wish him to win a lot.”
Scaroni also addressed recent comments made by Milan owner Gerry Cardinale about Inter Milan. He clarified, “Cardinale, as a sports figure and not just a businessman, was referring to Inter’s previous ownership, not the current club. On the field, we face each other and want to win, as in the last derby. Sometimes we may tease each other good-naturedly, but it’s clear that off the field there is respect and loyal collaboration with Inter.”
The Milan president emphasized the unique relationship between the two clubs, stating, “We’ve always shared a stadium and are working together to build a new one. Milan is a unique reality where fans can fortunately go to watch the derby mingling together in a serene atmosphere.”
Scaroni’s comments highlight the complex dynamics between rival clubs in Italian football, balancing competition on the field with cooperation off it.
