AC Milan Considers Mancini as Potential Replacement for Fonseca

Recent reports suggest that AC Milan is eyeing former Italy national team coach Roberto Mancini as a potential replacement for their current manager Paulo Fonseca. This development comes as Fonseca faces increasing pressure due to the team’s underwhelming performance in Serie A.

According to Italian media sources, Mancini has joined Maurizio Sarri as the top candidates to take over at San Siro should Fonseca depart. While Massimiliano Allegri’s name has also been mentioned, he is considered a less likely option for the Rossoneri.

Mancini became available after stepping down from his role as Saudi Arabia’s national team coach in October. He has also been linked with a potential move to AS Roma, where he could replace Claudio Ranieri after the latter transitions to a directorial position at the end of the 2024-25 season.

AC Milan’s current situation in Serie A is precarious. Following a goalless draw against Genoa, the team now trails the league leaders by 14 points and sits 8 points outside the top four after 15 matches. While Fonseca’s position is not in immediate jeopardy, reports suggest that a poor result against Hellas Verona in the upcoming match could change the club’s stance.

The atmosphere around San Siro has soured recently, with fans expressing their dissatisfaction through protests against the club’s management. This comes after the disappointing draw with Genoa and a narrow victory over Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.
