Brazilian Defender Adryelson Joins Anderlecht on Loan from Lyon

Belgian club RSC Anderlecht has secured the services of Brazilian centre-back Adryelson on loan from Lyon for the rest of the 2024-2025 season. The 26-year-old defender, who joined Lyon from Botafogo in January for €3.5 million, has struggled to make an impact in France, appearing only four times for the Ligue 1 side.

Adryelson’s move to Anderlecht includes a €6 million option for a permanent transfer, potentially allowing Lyon to profit from the deal despite the player’s limited playing time. This loan arrangement comes after Adryelson spent the first half of the current season on loan at his former club Botafogo, where he contributed to their success in the Copa Libertadores and Brazilian league.

The transfer appears to be part of Lyon’s strategy to reduce their squad size amid ongoing financial challenges. For Anderlecht, this move provides an opportunity to strengthen their defensive options with an experienced South American player for the remainder of the season.
