Rennes Manager Expresses Concern Over Team’s Ligue 1 Position
Jorge Sampaoli, the head coach of Rennes, has expressed significant concern regarding his team’s current standing in Ligue 1. Following their recent 2-1 home loss to Marseille, Rennes find themselves in an unexpectedly low 13th position in the league table.
The defeat marks Rennes’ 10th loss in just 17 league matches, resulting in a meager average of one point per game. This poor run of form has left the team precariously close to the relegation zone, with only a single point separating them from 16th-placed Saint-Etienne.
In his post-match press conference, Sampaoli acknowledged the gravity of the situation, stating, “We must undoubtedly be worried about our current position. This predicament existed before our arrival, and we’re striving to find solutions through tactical adjustments. While I believe we’ve made progress in some areas, the team often struggles to assert dominance during matches.”
The Argentine manager highlighted areas requiring immediate improvement, particularly emphasizing the need for enhanced precision in ball possession. He admitted, “We have a considerable amount of work ahead of us to address these issues.”
Despite the league struggles, Rennes will have an opportunity to boost morale in their upcoming Coupe de France Round of 32 match against Troyes on Wednesday.
