Inzaghi: Inter-Milan Derby Special, Lautaro Performing Well Despite Goal Drought
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is eagerly anticipating his 13th Milan derby as the Nerazzurri prepare to face their city rivals in the Supercoppa Italiana final on Monday. Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Inzaghi highlighted the significance of the fixture and expressed confidence in his team’s chances of securing their first trophy of the season.
“The derby is always a special occasion,” Inzaghi remarked. “This will be my 13th since joining Inter, and each one has been unique. We have fond memories from previous encounters, especially the Champions League semifinal. However, we also recall our last defeat and will aim to avoid repeating those mistakes.”
Regarding Milan’s new coach Sergio Conceicao, Inzaghi noted: “We’ve only seen one match under his leadership so far. Conceicao is known for bringing strong organization to his teams. Milan played an excellent second half against Juventus in the semifinal.”
When asked about captain Lautaro Martinez’s recent goal drought, Inzaghi remained supportive: “Lautaro is crucial for us. He’s done an excellent job as captain. As a former striker myself, I understand goal droughts happen. He played well against Atalanta, as he often does even when not scoring. He’s in good form and vital to our success.”
Inzaghi also addressed concerns about the team relying too heavily on Lautaro: “We always look to our strikers for goals, but we’re also scoring from other areas. We’ll continue to support all our forwards while maintaining a balanced attack.”
On Milan’s potential lineup, Inzaghi commented: “We’ve analyzed their recent performances and will review them again today. They have quality players with pace and energy. We need to focus on our game plan and manage possession effectively.”
The Inter coach concluded by emphasizing the importance of the match: “This is a chance to win the season’s first trophy. We’re prepared and motivated to give our best performance.”
