Pereira should start Hwang over Guedes against Tottenham
Wolverhampton Wanderers will be aiming for their third consecutive win under new manager Vitor Pereira as they face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League today. Recent victories over Leicester City and Manchester United have lifted Wolves out of the relegation zone, boosting hopes they can secure their top-flight status under Pereira’s leadership.
While most of the starting lineup performed well in the win over Manchester United, Goncalo Guedes struggled to make an impact playing alongside Matheus Cunha in an attacking midfield role. Guedes failed to create any chances or complete any dribbles, losing possession 16 times before being substituted after 75 minutes.
His replacement, Hwang Hee-chan, scored the crucial second goal to seal the 2-0 victory. Given Hwang’s impact off the bench, Pereira should consider starting the South Korean forward ahead of Guedes against Tottenham.
Despite limited starts this season, Hwang demonstrated his quality last term with 13 goals and 4 big chances created in the Premier League. Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright previously praised Hwang’s all-round attacking abilities, noting his “pace, skill, touch and awareness.”
If given the opportunity to start, Hwang will be eager to build on his goal-scoring cameo against Manchester United. Another strong performance could cement his place in Pereira’s first-choice lineup and help Wolves continue climbing the table away from the relegation battle.
