Barcelona’s Camp Nou Return Pushed to 2025
Barcelona’s anticipated return to Camp Nou has been postponed yet again, with the club now likely to remain at the Montjuïc stadium until the 2025 season. Despite President Joan Laporta’s repeated assurances of a prompt return, the reality paints a different picture.
The renovation project has faced significant delays, forcing the club to revise its timeline multiple times. Initially slated for a December return, the earliest possible date has now been pushed to February 16th. However, even this seems unlikely given the current state of construction.
The delays have created complications for both the club and its supporters. Season tickets for the second half of La Liga were sold with the expectation of matches being played at Camp Nou, a promise that can no longer be fulfilled.
Adding to the club’s woes is the uncertainty surrounding their Champions League home matches. UEFA regulations require all knockout stage games to be played at the same venue, and Montjuïc’s availability is limited due to other commitments. With Camp Nou unavailable, Barcelona faces a dilemma in securing a suitable stadium for their European fixtures.
The club has until February 21st to inform UEFA of their chosen venue for the remainder of the Champions League campaign. As construction continues to lag behind schedule, Barcelona’s return to their iconic home ground remains shrouded in uncertainty, contradicting earlier optimistic statements from club officials.
