Arsenal Exploring January Move for Barcelona’s Dani Olmo
Arsenal are reportedly in ongoing talks with the representatives of Barcelona forward Dani Olmo ahead of a potential January transfer. The 26-year-old Spaniard has emerged as a target for the Gunners following injuries to key attackers Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling.
Manager Mikel Arteta recently hinted at the possibility of bringing in a new winger in January to provide cover, stating: “We are ready if something happens. We didn’t predict the situation with Bukayo and Raheem at the same time. If something has to happen we will be open.”
According to transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri, Arsenal are in “positive contacts” with Olmo’s camp. The versatile attacker only joined Barcelona this summer for £46 million, but financial issues at the Catalan club mean he could depart after just six months.
Olmo has scored 6 goals and provided 1 assist in 15 appearances for Barcelona this season, operating both out wide and as an attacking midfielder. His ability to play multiple attacking positions could make him an ideal short-term replacement for the injured Saka and Sterling.
With Barcelona reportedly struggling to afford Olmo’s £149,000 weekly wages, the Spanish international could potentially leave on a free transfer in January. This situation has put Arsenal on alert as they look to bolster their attacking options for the second half of the season.
The Gunners currently sit top of the Premier League table and will be keen to maintain their title challenge despite the injury blows. Bringing in an experienced and versatile attacker like Olmo could prove crucial in sustaining their push for a first league title since 2004.
