Monza Dismisses Nesta, Potential Replacement Identified
Monza, currently struggling in Serie A, has officially terminated Alessandro Nesta’s contract as head coach following a 2-1 defeat against Juventus. The club expressed gratitude for Nesta’s efforts and wished him well in his future endeavors.
With only 10 points from 17 matches, Monza finds itself at the bottom of the Serie A table. The team faces crucial upcoming matches against direct rivals Parma and Cagliari, necessitating a swift appointment of a new coach to reinvigorate the squad.
Nesta, who joined Monza last summer with a contract until 2025, had an option for extension contingent on the team’s survival in Serie A this season. However, the club’s poor performance has led to his early departure.
According to reports from Sky Sport Italia, Monza has already identified Salvatore Bocchetti as the prime candidate to succeed Nesta. Bocchetti, who previously co-managed Verona with Marco Zaffaroni in the latter half of the 2022-23 season, helped the team avoid relegation to Serie B. Negotiations between Bocchetti and Monza are reportedly in the final stages.
