Tanguy Ndombélé Discusses Challenges of Playing Through Injury at OGC Nice

Tanguy Ndombélé, the 27-year-old French midfielder, has found a new lease on his career at OGC Nice after joining the club on a free transfer. Following a period of limited playing time at Tottenham Hotspur, Ndombélé has become a regular fixture in Nice’s lineup, making 18 appearances and contributing two goals and an assist this season.

However, Ndombélé recently revealed that his resurgence hasn’t been without its difficulties. Speaking to reporters, he disclosed an ongoing struggle with pubalgia, a condition affecting the groin area. “I’ve been playing more than I probably should,” Ndombélé admitted. “What’s not widely known is that I’m dealing with pubalgia.”

Despite the discomfort, Ndombélé expressed his determination to continue contributing to the team. “I’m pushing through the pain, trying to perform as best I can,” he stated. “We’re addressing the issue gradually. The pain has lessened, but I can’t predict when it will fully subside.”

The midfielder now has an opportunity to focus on recovery during Nice’s winter break. The team’s next match is scheduled for January 3, 2025, against Stade Rennais, following their recent Coupe de France victory over Corte in a penalty shootout.

Ndombélé’s revelation sheds light on the physical challenges professional footballers often face behind the scenes, highlighting the balance between personal health and team commitment in the competitive world of soccer.
