Aston Villa Reportedly Offered £64m Forward in Potential Swap Deal
According to reports, Paris Saint-Germain has approached Aston Villa with an offer to exchange striker Randal Kolo Muani for Jhon Duran in 2025. PSG reportedly wants to offload Kolo Muani less than two years after signing him for £64 million from Eintracht Frankfurt. The French club appears to view Villa’s in-form Duran as an upgrade.
While this potential swap would certainly make headlines, it’s questionable whether it would benefit Aston Villa. Given Kolo Muani’s struggles at PSG compared to Duran’s success, Villa should be hesitant to accept such a deal.
If Villa could sign Kolo Muani at a discounted price without including Duran, it may be worth considering. The 26-year-old forward previously impressed at Frankfurt. However, as it stands, Villa should reject the proposed swap. Duran is playing an increasingly important role under Unai Emery. Unless an exceptional offer is made, keeping both Duran and Ollie Watkins should remain a priority.
Statistics show Duran has been more clinical in front of goal this season, scoring 6 times in under 500 minutes compared to Kolo Muani’s 2 goals in 358 minutes. Duran has also outperformed his expected goals, while Kolo Muani has underperformed.
Once described as “quick” and “strong” by Oliver Glasner, Kolo Muani has failed to live up to expectations at PSG. Unless the terms change significantly, Aston Villa would be wise to reject this proposed swap deal and retain their in-form young striker Jhon Duran.
