Liverpool Targets “Exceptional” Frimpong; Agent Contacted
According to journalist Christian Falk, Liverpool has set its sights on Bayer Leverkusen’s versatile player Jeremie Frimpong, with the club already making initial contact with his agent.
As Liverpool looks to secure new contracts for key players Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose deals expire at the end of the season, the club is also exploring potential reinforcements. With Alexander-Arnold’s future uncertain amid interest from Real Madrid, Liverpool is considering options to strengthen the right side of their defense.
Falk revealed that Frimpong is on Liverpool’s shortlist, noting: “Jeremie Frimpong is a very special player. His versatility, being able to play multiple positions, makes him particularly interesting for Liverpool. While there are no concrete talks yet, he is definitely on their radar.”
The reporter also mentioned that Frimpong has a €40 million (£33 million) release clause in his contract. Liverpool has reportedly spoken with the player’s agent and even invited him to Anfield earlier in the season, though negotiations have not yet begun in earnest.
Frimpong’s attacking prowess as a full-back or winger could make him an ideal replacement for Alexander-Arnold, known for his offensive contributions. The Dutch player has already notched two goals and four assists in 14 Bundesliga appearances this season.
While Liverpool fans would undoubtedly prefer to retain Alexander-Arnold, Frimpong’s versatility and attacking flair could make him an excellent alternative should a move become necessary.
