Chelsea defender Axel Disasi could exit in January amid Juventus interest

As the January transfer window approaches, Chelsea defender Axel Disasi may be on his way out of Stamford Bridge. The French center-back has found consistent playing time hard to come by under manager Enzo Maresca this season.

While Disasi has featured regularly in Chelsea’s European matches, even captaining the side at times, he has been largely relegated to the bench for Premier League fixtures. The 26-year-old was left out of the matchday squad entirely for five consecutive league games recently.

According to reports from RMC Sport, Disasi’s lack of domestic playing time has drawn interest from Italian giants Juventus. The Turin club are said to be in need of defensive reinforcements following an injury to Gleison Bremer, and have made an approach to sign Disasi in January.

An unnamed German club is also reportedly monitoring Disasi’s situation at Chelsea. While the Blues’ stance on a potential sale remains unclear, interest in the former Monaco defender appears to be growing as the transfer window nears.

Disasi, who was described as a “leader” in the Chelsea squad earlier this season, could be among several fringe players departing Stamford Bridge next month as Maresca looks to trim his squad. Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei have also been linked with January exits after struggling for minutes under the new manager.

With Juventus now stepping up their pursuit, Disasi may have a decision to make regarding his Chelsea future in the coming weeks. A move could provide the French international with more regular playing time as he looks to stake his claim for a spot in the national team ahead of Euro 2024.
