Wolves Target Loan Move for Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron
Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly interested in signing Miguel Almiron on loan from Newcastle United in the January transfer window. This news comes as Vitor Pereira is expected to be announced as the club’s new manager following Gary O’Neil’s dismissal.
Pereira has agreed to a 1.5-year contract with Wolves after negotiating personal terms. The club will pay an £800,000 compensation fee to Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab, where Pereira was previously managing. The 56-year-old Portuguese coach bid farewell to Al Shabab in a social media post on Wednesday, expressing gratitude for his time there.
As Pereira’s appointment nears, Wolves are exploring transfer options to strengthen the squad. According to reports, they are eyeing a loan move for Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron. The 30-year-old Paraguayan international has fallen out of favor at St. James’ Park this season after playing a key role last year.
Newcastle are reportedly open to loaning out Almiron in January as they look to balance their books due to Financial Fair Play regulations. Wolves face competition from Crystal Palace and Leicester City for the midfielder’s signature.
Almiron is seeking a move to rediscover his form from the 2022/23 season, when he scored 11 Premier League goals. He has a history with Molineux, having scored his second Premier League goal there in a 1-1 draw during the 2019/20 campaign.
The potential loan signing could provide Wolves with an experienced Premier League player as they look to climb the table under their new manager. Almiron’s work rate and creativity could be valuable assets if he can recapture his best form.
