Chelsea Manager Fond of £40M Star, Though January Transfer Remains Possible
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca is reportedly an admirer of midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, despite the player’s lack of first-team involvement this season. However, the club remains open to offers for the 21-year-old in the January transfer window.
Chukwuemeka, who joined Chelsea from Aston Villa, has struggled to break into the starting lineup this campaign. He has not featured in any Premier League matchday squads and has only played a total of 130 minutes across cup competitions.
Despite his limited playing time, Chelsea are said to value Chukwuemeka at around £40 million. The club would consider offers in this range either in January or next summer’s transfer window.
Former Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly has previously praised Chukwuemeka’s abilities, comparing him to an artist on stage and highlighting his dribbling skills and clinical nature on the ball.
While Maresca appears to rate the young midfielder highly, Chelsea’s willingness to listen to offers suggests they may prioritize raising funds over developing Chukwuemeka further. His future at Stamford Bridge remains uncertain as the January window approaches.
