Everton Target £25m Winger Pushing for January Transfer
Everton are monitoring the situation of Lyon winger Ernest Nuamah, who is reportedly seeking a move away from the French club in January due to limited playing time. The 21-year-old Ghanaian joined Lyon in August but has mostly featured as a substitute so far this season.
Several Premier League clubs including Crystal Palace and Fulham are also said to be interested in Nuamah, along with European sides AS Roma and Sevilla. Lyon are believed to be holding out for a fee in the region of £21-25 million, though interested parties have so far been reluctant to meet that valuation.
A loan deal could be a possibility if Lyon’s asking price is not met. Nuamah built his reputation as an exciting prospect at Danish side FC Nordsjaelland, where he impressed with his dribbling ability and shooting. Statistics show he ranks in the 90th percentile for progressive carries per 90 minutes compared to other wingers in Europe’s top leagues.
However, the youngster is yet to fully prove himself outside of Denmark. A loan move could be a prudent option for Everton to assess Nuamah’s ability to adapt to the Premier League before committing to a large transfer fee.
With Everton struggling for goals this season, new attacking reinforcements are likely to be a priority in January. The potential takeover by the Friedkin Group, which is nearing completion, could provide funds for transfers as the Toffees look to pull away from the relegation zone.
