£25 million “new Pirlo” eager to join Tottenham in January transfer window
Tottenham Hotspur may be looking to strengthen their squad in January, and it appears one player in particular is interested in a move to North London next month.
According to reports from Italy, Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli would be open to joining Spurs in the upcoming transfer window. The 23-year-old, who has been compared to Italian legend Andrea Pirlo, is said to favor a move to a “prestigious” club like Tottenham over other London rivals who have shown interest.
Juventus are reportedly willing to sell Fagioli for around £25 million as he has struggled for consistent playing time in Turin. The Italian international is seen as a promising talent but has yet to fully break through at Juventus.
Former Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic has praised Fagioli’s potential, saying: “Fagioli is the present and future of Italy. Is he the new Pirlo? Well, if Andrea says so, I too had foreseen that Fagioli would become a protagonist at Juventus.”
While he hasn’t quite lived up to those lofty expectations in Italy, a move to Tottenham could help revitalize Fagioli’s career. Spurs have had success in the past bringing in players from Juventus like Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur who have flourished under new management.
As Tottenham look to bolster their midfield options, the technically gifted Fagioli could be an intriguing target for manager Ange Postecoglou. His potential arrival would add depth and creativity to Spurs’ squad as they push for Champions League qualification in the second half of the season.
